Australia Wings Academy Selects GenAv’s ASTAR

Coolangatta, Australia, November 24, 2005 -- Australian Wings Academy (AWA), formerly known as Gold Coast Aviation Centre, has joined GenAv Systems' growing number of international customers. Located at the Gold Coast Airport in Coolangatta, AWA has enjoyed 24 (and counting) years of operation concentrating on the professional training and development of commercial and private pilots as its primary focus. Other AWA services include Charter Facilities, Flight Simulation, Scenic Flights, Aircraft Private Hire and a Fixed Based Operation. The Gold Coast, in Queensland, is an ideal location for flight training with a fantastic, all year round climate providing minimal schedule interruptions, an abundance of employment opportunities, affordable accommodation, and a great lifestyle. See www.ozwings.aero for more AWA information.

AWA will be using GenAv Systems’ new software, Aviation Student Tracking, Analysis and Reporting (ASTAR) which made its official debut in September 2005. The GenAv Flight Office ASTAR student record keeping system incorporates a user-defined syllabus that met with Transport Canada’s approval and that exceeds FAA Part 61 and Part 141 requirements on training methodologies. The Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) - with primary responsibility for the maintenance, enhancement and promotion of the safety of civil aviation in Australia – is currently conducting its review for approval status. Each student maneuver and each training procedure is easily tracked and reported using ASTAR’s competency-based scoring on a user-defined scale. The comprehensive system also significantly reduces instructor and administrative workload.

An added benefit that greatly facilitates the capturing of data is GenAv’s handheld (Palm) computer scoring system for instructors. The scoring system automatically permits instructors to synchronize their handheld computer and update student performance. This eliminates manual and repetitive entries into the Pilot Training Record system (PTR). The synchronization allows the entire flight to be completely captured throught the recording of flight times and meters. ASTAR can even generate an invoice from its connection to the Flight Office invoicing module.

“Many other GenAv Flight Office enhancements are also available,” says GenAv Systems President, Stephane Way. “At GenAv Systems we are making the software improvements today that you will be needing or looking for tomorrow! We are all about meeting our industry’s training needs. So when it comes to efficiency in training software, think GenAv!”
