Kestrel
Aviation - our first rotary wing school!
|

Kestrel
aviation is located about 100km north of Melbourne, Australia in
Mangaloor. They will be using GenAv for their rotary wing and
fixed wing aircraft.
Kestrel's mission is to
provide trainee pilots with the best possible foundation on which to
build their aviation career. To this end our training program is
consistent with the high level of skills demanded both in the
airline industry and in the GA (General Aviation) industries around
the world. Our training program is complemented by our fleet of
aircraft, our dedicated instructors and the excellence of our
facilities at Mangalore Airport.
Located in
the scenic countryside of the Goulburn Valley region, Mangalore is
strategically based just north of the Great Dividing Range, which
separates Mangalore from Melbourne. While this is significant for
the type of weather conditions encountered, it is still only a 100km
drive to the city centre of Melbourne.
Mangalore
was originally used as an alternate to Melbourne International
Airport because of its recorded stable weather conditions. Students
at the airport have come to appreciate the efficiencies that come as
a result of the ideal weather, which means that there are rarely
delays due to poor weather.

WestJet chooses GenĀv for pilot training
scheduling
|
GenĀv Systems is pleased to
announce WestJet is the first airline to take advantage of GenAv's
scheduling technology.
WestJet currently has over 580 pilots and
53 aircraft. The GenAv Flight Office TRiM software will
provide the scheduling department with an automatic scheduling
tool that features a convenient easy-to-use graphical
interface.
WestJet was founded
in 1996 by four Calgary entrepreneurs led by Clive Beddoe, who saw
an opportunity to provide low-fare air travel across western Canada.
Through researching other successful airlines in North America - and
in particular low-cost carriers from throughout the continent - the
team followed the primary examples of Southwest Airlines and Morris
Air and determined that a similar concept could be successful in
western Canada.
The
airline operates a growing fleet of 53 aircraft featuring 35 new
Next-Generation Boeing 737-700 aircraft with leather seats and more
legroom. Transborder service commenced in the fall of 2004 to
the cities of
Los Angeles, San Francisco, Phoenix, Fort Lauderdale, Tampa Bay,
Orlando, and New York. Service to Palm Springs is scheduled to begin
in January 2005.

Cubair is a small friendly flying school specializing
in flying training for the Private Pilot License and tail wheel
conversion.
For PPL training we offer the option of the
latest technology: Katana
DA20, the Cessna
172, or if you prefer a tail wheel aircraft,
the Piper Super
Cub. Advanced instrument training for the
IMC rating is available using the Katana DA20, the Cessna 172 and
the new Diamond Star
DA40. Tail wheel conversion training is
available using the Piper Super Cub. The Piper Apache aircraft is
used for our training courses for the Multi Engine Piston Rating.
All aircraft are available for rental to qualified pilots.
As
a small flying school we offer an individual service that is
difficult to find elsewhere. We allow time to complete proper
pre-and post- flight briefings and for our instructors to attend to
your individual needs. All of our instructors hold full Airline
Transport Pilots' licenses or Commercial Pilots' Licenses and
Instrument Ratings. We have our own examiners (authorized by the
Civil Aviation Authority) and are a corporate member of The Aircraft
Owners and Pilots Association.
Redhill Aerodrome has full
Air Traffic
Control and all modern facilities yet retain
the charm of a small grass airfield. It is easily accessible from
the M25/A25/A23 and close to both Nutfield and Redhill railway
stations.

ASTAR! Competency based flight training and record
keeping
|
Our user-defined syllabus (syllabi)
add-on module offers competency based training system integrated
with scheduling. We feel Competency Based Training is the future of
aviation education.
The Flight Office
Syllabus will accommodate all syllabi. You can define or use any
syllabus you choose. We will provide a generic private syllabus with
the product. There is no limit to the number of syllabi you can
define. For example you can have private license, multi-engine
endorsement, instrument ratings etc. Any syllabus can be modified to
your needs at any time with the proper security access.
The syllabus is
integrated to scheduling so that you may automatically schedule a
student for the entire course. The automatic scheduling will take
into account student availability, instructor availability,
instructor preferences and aircraft preferences. Since weather or
other factors will interrupt the schedule, the system will
automatically roll forward any cancelled events. The system will
also roll forward any incomplete or failed procedures or maneuvers
to the current session.
A complete record
keeping system has been incorporated to the student profile. All
flight lessons and sessions are tracked with user defined codes.
Ground school course are also tracked with the facility to track
grades. All of the assessment criteria for flight session procedures
and maneuvers are recorded by the instructor and updated in the
student records. The assessment criterion is user-defined. Between 3
and 10 points of assessment criteria can be assigned by syllabus and
is weighted for automatic calculation of performance standards.
The reporting system
features an instructor briefing which includes the previous session
and performance as well as the current session items. A session
report and a pilot training record summary are also available.
The second quarter of 2005 we will offer Flight Office TRiM
ASTAR, a hand-held (or knee-board) syllabus scoring solution that
will put data capture for flight sessions on the flight deck with
the instructor. This will enable the instructors to rate the
procedures and maneuvers during the flight session. ASTAR will
automatically update the student records from the hand-held thus
eliminating most of the paperwork for your instructors as well as
ensuring greater data integrity.

Our third
Australian account, Professional Helicopter Services
|
PROFESSIONAL
HELICOPTER SERVICES was established in 1981 by Ron Newman as a part
time training school with a Hughes 300 helicopter, in order to keep
his instructing skills current. At this time Ron was the Chief
Helicopter Pilot and Chief Engineer for the Victoria Police Air Wing
after setting them up with a twin engine "Dauphin" helicopter. The
training school grew quickly, mainly due to Ron's background in the
helicopter industry and his excellent reputation.
Ron's
background in Aviation began in 1955 when, at the age of 14, he
became an apprentice Aircraft Engineer with Trans Australia Airlines
(now QANTAS). He moved to Ansett Airlines "Helicopter Division" in
1960 and has been involved with helicopters ever since. He became a
Licensed Helicopter Engineer and in 1966, took charge of their
Sikorsky S61 (28 seat helicopter) operation in Queensland.
Ron learnt
to fly helicopters in 1968 and since that time he has flown
extensively throughout Australia, New Guinea, the Pacific Islands
and the Antarctic with Helicopter Utilities and Jayrow helicopters
before joining the Victoria Police in 1976 in order to set them up
in a helicopter operation. In 1983 he left the Police Air Wing to
concentrate on his growing company and now has over 15,000
helicopter flying hours, with over 7,000 hours of instructional
experience in both single and twin engine helicopters.
